Why is your Birthday so important?

Birthday Gift Boxes

Because it is your special day every year.

Do you remember when you were growing up as a kid and how much you loved having parties with all your friends? Big beaming smiles? Loads of sugar and party food? They were the good times.

As you get older, why is it celebrated less and less each year? I truly think it’s because you start taking care of everyone else’s needs and you forget about your own.

So here’s 5 reasons why you should celebrate your birthday to remember how special you are.

One – Celebrate your journey
Life is tough with its twists and turns – balancing work, family, friends and hobbies. You are amazing and you need to be recognised for it.

Two – You deserve it
Yep, this should trump all reasons. You work so hard all year to get older and wiser, celebrate the day with the people who mean so much to you.

Three – It’s an excuse to party with your friends
Ok, so maybe not party all night. But what about a nice dinner party gathering to catch up with friends? Everyone is so busy with their family and careers throughout the year, this is a perfect opportunity to wine and dine at a local restaurant or even a fancy one if it’s a big milestone birthday!

Four – You’re most definitely wiser
It never surprises me how being in my fourties I’m still learning so much from my kids, husband and friends. And when my kids take my advice and listen (yes that can be rare they listen!) it’s obviously because of life experiences. Share your life moments with them and your stories on growing up over the family birthday dinner. They love hearing about it too.

Five – Something to look forward to
This weekend I’m going to be celebrating my best friend’s birthday at Noosa. We’ve been planning it all year and we are taking the kids too for the last week of school holidays. A road trip up to Yamba first and then on to Noosa. With a drive back stopping at Coffs Harbour before arriving home. It has been so fun organising this week away and it has brought us all together in planning the celebration. Even the boys have organised fishing and mini trips. Celebrating a birthday with a holiday you can share with family and friends would be my favourite because you definitely get to drag it out for an entire week!
